Girl's Nightgowns for Valentine's Day

Boy has it been a frigid, blustery week here in New England this week! I'm loving these sweet Valentine's Day nightgowns, so cheerful and pretty but also toasty warm for those cooooold winter nights. Details for each one are on my shop page: www.roseandruffle.etsy.com

I'm busy sewing up lots of things to have a solid inventory for sale, especially since I'm thinking I won't be able to take any custom orders for a bit after baby arrives. The nightgowns shown here range in size from 2t through 6, and I'll be adding a few more in the next few days, so keep checking in.  =)

Family and Sewing Updates

So I totally forgot to announce the gender of our sweet new baby on this blog! Ready?

Another son will be joining this zoo crew and we couldn't be more thrilled. My how teeny tiny these clothes look to me, and I never thought I'd be shopping for little blue things again, much less making them! God is so good!

And in slightly less pressing news, ha, I'm still deciding if I'll be able to take any custom orders for Spring, but I know I'm definitely planning on making some things now to bulk up my inventory. I'll be offering lots of sizes and fabrics, so you'll have lots of options.

And aaaaand... I'm thinking of opening up a second shop dedicated to little boy clothes and accessories. Any thoughts? Interest? I've already been sewing up a storm here and hope to list some items either at the new place, or at Rose and Ruffle. I'd love to hear your thoughts. =)

That's it for the moment. I was supposed to be taking the day off today, but... I ended up doing lots of different things, all of which made me really happy, so I guess that's what matters, right? I'm doing some posts on the other blog about organizing and setting up our home, so check over there if you want to read some house updates.

Friday Feature: Summer Nightgown for Twirling

There really is something about little girls and things that twirl. This nightgown- which of course can also be worn as a dress- fits the bill perfectly.

The link to this nightgown's Etsy listing is found HERE.

Lots of people ask about the fabric: I work with 100% premium cotton, and only cottons that feel smooth and soft...I'm super picky about this. I do NOT work with fabrics that are treated or have been chemically altered, such as those that are considered "flame retardant." Many of us don't want those chemicals rubbing against our children's delicate skin all night long, so it's nice to have a choice in the matter. Many store-bought pajamas and nightgowns have the chemicals.

This nightgown was a bit big on my daughter at the time (it looks slightly longer than the nightgown would normally be) but it gives you an idea of how the style looks. She called this her "princess nightie" and she twirled and twirled around in it. Every little girl should have something they love this much!

Today is our first official day of summer and...it's pouring outside, ha! I got a ton of things done in the gardens yesterday- in the sunshine- so I'm thankful for that! The only requests for the day so far were 1. to go to the library- sure thing! and 2. pancakes for breakfast- yup, we can do that!

I post items on instagram, too- you can find me at roseandruffle. Say hello!  =)

Sweetness for Baby Girl

I've shared on other media how this has been a difficult week for my family. I've appreciated the prayers, thoughts, and kind of comments from everyone. (I shared on my family blog here as well as on the Rose & Ruffle facebook page...yes, there is a facebook page!

I'm extremely appreciative of the orders coming in recently. It feels so good to contribute to our adoption fund in this way, so as always, thank you! Now that summer is quickly approaching, I will be making and listing items ahead of time in various sizes, and not taking as many custom orders. Here is one of the first things for Summer 2015:

Size 1-3 Months
**please note that Picasa and/or Blogger are making these images appear darker and washed out- grrr; this is a true crisp but soft white with medium pink rosebuds**

I love how this set turned out! So sweet and feminine!

The dress is on the longer side, measuring approximately 15 inches from shoulder to hem, and the style is roomy and comfortable, so Baby will be able to wear it for a longer time.

The bloomers are my favorite!

While I do normally work only with cotton, occasionally a fabric strikes my fancy and it just so happens to be a cotton blend, like this one. It's cool and smooth for delicate baby skin, and the seersucker resists wrinkles and holds its shape nicely.

This would be adorable for a portrait session, too! Sweet details but not too much so as to distract from Baby.

Lastly, I'm wondering if people are interested in more things for little boys. Here are some cute boxer shorts I sold last year. I'm thinking of making some more in other fun prints, as well as some shortalls...any interest? Thanks!

Specialty Summer Nightgowns Coming Soon!

Wow, has this week flown by! It's school vacation week here, for whomever kid that even applies to anymore, ha, and between keeping their days fun and interesting, trying to keep up with the house/meals/laundry,etc..., and sewing orders, I am just about done. Done. I was thrilled to see some lovely green things poking up through the ground in the past few days, though. Finally!

If I haven't said Thank You!!! for a while, please know that I am truly grateful for everyone who has supported me and our lengthy adoption adventure. I've enjoyed working on custom orders for you, but I'm already sensing that as we get closer to summer, and then to homeschooling full time in the fall, I won't be able to keep on top of everything. So the custom orders will be phasing out very soon and instead I'm going to make some pretty nightgowns (and even dresses and rompers!) in various sizes to list them in the shop.

Here are some samples/examples of what's coming- they are all original designs of mine and I think they're just so sweet for little girls:

Have a good day!

My Favorite Spring Floral Nightgown

Isn't this the loveliest floral fabric? I am so smitten with it, and it seems I'm not the only one. This premium cotton is selling out quickly, so if you'd like to order a nightie, you may want to do that before it's all gone.

I don't know why it looks so washed out in my photos- must've had my settings off, argh- but it is just the sweetest print for a little girl's old-fashioned nightgown. Such a beautiful aqua color with perfectly pink blooms. I love it!

Thank you so much to all who have placed an order with me. I appreciate it so very much! I hope to have an exciting announcement to write out very soon....   ;)

For more information about nightgowns for sale, please visit my Etsy shop, Rose & Ruffle. As always, if you have any questions, just ask!

Also, warmer weather has fiiiinally settled in around here, so I'm hoping to get those photos of Isabelle's Easter dress soon. I've also got a "helpful hints" post for a summer dress but just had to keep waiting out winter before moving forward on that one. Hopefully this week!

New Flannel Nightgowns in Spring Colors

Well. Between being a full-time Mom, owning this little business, and everything in between, I have really neglected this poor little blog. I thought I'd share the newest nightgowns for sale at Rose and Ruffle.

100% Cotton Flannel Long-Sleeved Nightgown in Fun Spring Colors

Someone was very excited when I brought out these pretty flowers for a prop. They're now in her room because they made her so happy.  :)

It's still winter time, and it's still quite cold- for the next several months for us here in the Northeast- so we can't give up on warm clothing anytime soon; but we want some fun, fresh colors! With Christmas gone by, it's definitely time for a little change of pace in terms of color and pattern.

These sleeves are roomy and "puffy," as my daughter likes to call them. I cut them slightly longer and wider at the wrist for this effect. Very sweet and feminine but completely practical.

Here are the fabric choices:

That bottom one is difficult to see- those are sweet little pink flowers throughout...I think it's my favorite!
I found three or four more flannels that are so sweet, so I'll add a photo of those as soon as the sun comes up today (which may not happen, as it's supposed to snow all day, but...)

This nightgown can be made with a ruffled sleeve if you prefer and a longer ribbon bow, as shown below.

It can also be made shorter or without a ruffle along the hem. Any way is sure to bring a smile to a special little girl.

Prices range from $29 -$34

I'm happy to work with you to create something just right for you.
These nightgowns make wonderful gifts and are also available as matching/coordinating sets for sisters, cousins, best friends...anyone! Thank you!

A New Website (Or Two)

Well, I've taken the plunge and created a new site for Rose & Ruffle on Big Cartel. Okay, so actually, I created one on Weebly as well, but that was before I realized to add a shopping cart is pricier than I'd thought. I'm sticking with the free plans for now, but if there's any traffic or interest, then I just may upgrade... I know, I know. Life in the fast lane here.  :)

Here's the link for Big Cartel: Rose & Ruffle

And the link for Weebly: Rose & Ruffle

For some people, this may not be a big deal at all. But for me, who is not altogether tech savvy, it was downright frustrating and a little mind-numbing at times. I really like the feel of the Weebly site, but the fees per month, not so much. We shall see... of course, they're both still very much works in progress.

Any thoughts? I'd love to hear your feedback! Thanks!

New Clothing Labels!

I am so excited that today is the official first day of SPRING! But apparently NH has not yet gotten the memo, as it's currently sleeting (on top of the 4+ inches of snow we got during the night). Soon, I hope. I don't think I can take much more of the cold. And the boots that have taken over the corner of my kitchen. =)

I'm also excited about my new clothing labels. It's something I've wanted to do for a while now, but every time I looked online or at Etsy, I got completely overwhelmed and kind of gave up. Well, last weekend I finally took the plunge. I thought I'd use a pre-made one, since there are so many to choose from, but then I ended up making my own. One is completely girly, so that one will be for nightgowns and dresses and such; the other is a bit more neutral so it won't look so out of place on boy shorts or bibs, etc.

What do you think?

I have no idea where they're showing up with a grey background - it's supposed to be white. The white makes the colors look a little folksier, I guess, and well, I think grey and white is kind of self explanatory.

I can't wait to see them! I've got several items about 85% completed because I'm waiting on the labels, which, if you know me well, is just shy of torture because I do not like to leave things lingering. I hope they're worth the wait!  =)
